They are available by appointment for a wide range of nursing procedures, including dressings, cervical smears, counselling, injections, ear syringing and health promotion clinics.

The health visitor is in the surgery on Thursdays. She runs the child health clinics and is available for advice on infant feeding, safety, childhood problems and immunisations. She also advises on care of the elderly and disabled. She visits newborn babies and mothers after 12 days.

The District Nurse

The district nurse is a registered nurse with additional training in community nursing. Her role is to assess the nursing needs of patients in their own homes, to plan, implement and evaluate this care in conjunction with patient doctors and carers. She works closely with other members of the primary care team and liaises with both statutory and voluntary agencies.

The Midwives

There are two community midwives attached to the practice, available for antenatal care and advice every Wednesday. They attend home deliveries and deliver patients at the maternity unit. They also visit postnatally at home for approximately 12 days.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is available to our patients at Bradwell Hospital or Porthill Clinic. An appointment is made through the doctor.
